The Evening Institute of Church Teachers’ College had its inception in September 1979. It was developed to facilitate the expansion of learning opportunities for students who did not achieve the desired result in the Caribbean Secondary Examination Council (CSEC) Examination, or who had failed to attain the matriculation requirements for entry into specific academic programmes of the college.

The objectives of the Institute are as follows:

  • To provide a ‘second chance’ for persons- usually young working adults, to complete their secondary education by pursuing subjects in the Caribbean Secondary Examination Council examinations (CSEC)
  • To accommodate the work schedule of employed individuals who engage in its program offerings; thus enabling them to earn requisite skills whilst practicing their profession.

The Institute has grown tremendously and now offers a range of programmes to include:

  1. Diploma in Early Childhood Education Part-time and Full-time
  2. Diploma in Secondary Education
  3. Secondary Education Continuation Programme (CSEC)
DIPLOMA PROGRAMME
  • The Full-time Diploma program is so structured, that the students who enroll in this program complete the requirements for graduation in the same time as the fulltime day students (3years). Though this program is referred to as full-time classes are held from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and on Saturdays 8:00am – 4:45pm.

    The Institute offers students quality education at an affordable cost and the opportunity to work full-time and meet family obligations while pursuing ‘full-time’ studies educational goals.

  • The Part-time Diploma programme is a four year (4) program with courses being offered Mondays to Fridays starting at 4:15 pm – 7:15 pm and during the summer. The summer semester begins in June and last for approximately six weeks. Three weeks in June from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm and in July from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
SECONDARY EDUCATION PROGRAMME
  • This program was developed to facilitate the expansion of learning opportunities for those students who did not achieve the desired result in their CSEC Examination or who have failed to attain the matriculation requirement for entry into specific academic programmes of the college. Classes are held Monday to Thursday starting at 4:45 p.m. and ending 6:45 p.m. each day.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

CSEC (GENERAL)
  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Information Technology
